The cheapest clients a B2B company will ever get come from partners: businesses that serve the same customer before, after or alongside you, and see the need before you do. Most companies leave this channel to chance. Organized, it is worth a sales rep. Here is how to find B2B partners who actually send clients, and how to keep them sending.
Map the chain around your customer
Take your last ten clients. For each, list who they worked with in the six months before and after you: their accountant, lawyer, bank, recruiter, architect, integrator, consultant, other vendors. The names that repeat are your chain. Those businesses meet your future customers every week, in the exact situation that triggers your offer.
Pick three, not thirty
A partner program with thirty logos and no conversations produces nothing. Three partners who know exactly what you do, for whom, and what result you get, and who hear from you every month, produce a steady flow. Choose the three that see the buying situation earliest: the recruiter sees the company that is hiring before anyone; the accountant sees the raise; the architect sees the new site.
Propose something simple and mutual
Not a commission scheme, not a contract: a conversation. "When you see a company in this situation, tell them about us and give them this; we will do the same for you when we see yours." Give the partner what makes referring easy: one sentence to say, one page to send, and proof they can forward without explaining. A short film that shows your team and your work is the easiest thing in the world for a partner to forward.
Keep them sending
A message a month with something useful: a client situation they might recognize, a case you finished, an article. Thank every referral the same day, and tell the partner what happened, including when it did not close. Send referrals their way first; the ones who receive, give.
Where to find partners you do not have yet
Your industry's association meetings. The chamber of commerce. LinkedIn, searching for the roles in your chain in your city. Your own clients: ask who else they trust. And the events where your customers' other vendors show up.
Measure partner-sourced meetings
Note the source of every inquiry. Count, monthly, the meetings that came from each partner, their conversion and their value. Within six months you know which three partners carry the channel, and you spend your time on them.
The proof partners forward
A partner will not explain your offer for you. They forward what explains itself: a film that shows your team, your places and your way of working, in two minutes. That is the piece that turns a warm mention into a meeting. Studio FLF builds its corporate films for exactly that hand-off.
For the piece your partners can forward, tell us about your business and its chain.
